Intro

CJPC was established in the holy see on 06/01/1967 during the second Vatican council. Issues of human rights abuse were exposed and discussed so the then Pope, Pope Paul I constituted a commission for peace and justice to challenge, interrogate and question oppressive structures and models that violet human rights.

Objectives

The same was adopted in Kenya in 1988 by the episcopal conference of Kenya through a pastoral letter in which it’s objectives were laid out.

a. Reading, interpreting and making available of all documents both from the government and the church and ensuring that the same is understood by all Christians.

b. Since human dignity is not optional, we stand strongly against policies that violet human dignity, oppose cultural practices that demean human person and those that do not conform to our African values opposing strongly;

  • abortion
  • same sex marriage
  • human trafficking
  • drug Abuse
  • Female genital mutilation
  • gender based violence etc

c. Lenten campaign and that’s where we come into the picture squarely, where different weekly themes are selected to sensitize all people about what is affecting them and giving recommendations.

d. Among other activities, we conduct voter education, civic education, and persuade people to actively participate in social development agendas of the nation.
All that is achieved in liason of the KCCB.
